Bottle Cap Purse

Many years ago at ArtFest, an art retreat held at Port Townsend, Washington and run by Teesha and Tracy Moore, I took a Found Object class taught by Janet Cooper. It was way too much fun and I have had a love of bottle caps ever since. During the class I made a couple necklaces but once I got home, I just had to do the purse. One purse led to another. There are many ways to use bottle caps for your artwork but I fell in love using them to make purses and embellishments. For this post, I am going to show you my "Nancy" purse. I couldn't find any purses that would work so decided that I needed to make them myself. The purses are a lot of fun when wearing them out in the public, especially at an art retreat.

The photo below shows some bottlecap embellishments I made with Tim Holtz's Idea-ology line. I use these sprockets, gears and spinners a lot in my altered work. The bottle caps were colored with Ranger alcohol inks. I used the crop-a-dile to punch the holes in them.
