I LOVE LOVE LOVE decorating papers. This time it is decorating big sheets of watercolor paper (although you could do it on other kinds of paper). This is done with Adirondack Color Wash Sprays and Dye Ink and tar gel. On one of my yahoo groups some time ago we had a huge technique swap and I chose this one to do. Way too much fun. On the ones where the tar gel is white, I put the tar gel down first and let it dry thoroughly and then colored it. On the ones where the tar gel is colored, I colored the paper first and then put down the tar gel and in doing it that way, it took on the various colors throughout the page. I don't know which one I like the best. This was not my original idea as I gleaned it from one of my art books which the name escapes me. When I remember, I will edit this post to give credit where credit is due.....you must remember my mind is not as sharp as it used to be......how sad is that. Oh well I will get over it and before I know it, there will be something else I don't remember.
Excuse me now please.......I must go and watch American Idol. I don't watch a lot of tv but for some reason I like this program.

First, what is tar gel? Does it go by another name? And, I'm assuming the tar gel is what makes the swirls? Right? Love 'em ... keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful Papers!
ReplyDeleteAny plans for them?

Nancy - I love these papers - what is Tag Gel and where do you get it??? I'd like to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I've done this technique dripping the gel on already patterned paper and that is a neat way to alter any less than pleasing patterns you may already own.
ReplyDeleteBut wait, this is about you, not me. LOL!
Your papers are gorgeous....as I keep saying, everything you do is gorgeous.
Oh, and I do identify with that memory comment. It was you who made it, right? LOLOL!?
